Terrazzo Medallions
Client: Winter Park Health Foundation
Architects: Duda | Paine
Terrazzo Manufacturer: David Allen Company
Project: 6ft diameter terrazzo medallions for the floor of the Center for Health & Wellbeing. The medallions were designed to reflect elements of the seven dimensions of wellbeing, and provide way finding within the commons.
The frames are a combination of black plastic and aluminum, differentiating foreground and background elements. The artwork was provided as a vector file for the frames to be cut and assembled in Raleigh, NC, and shipped to Winter Park. Here they were placed in the floor and filled with colored resin and aggregate by professional installers, using a “paint-by-number” guide.
